The 2020 Nissan GT-R NISMO has been engineered to ...reduce overall weight and lower air resistance to improve aerodynamics for a faster, more exciting drive.
Carbon fiber fender vents with carefully designed fins allow for optimal airflow, cooling hot air from the engine and providing exceptional downforce to the front tires, reducing drag coefficient. Other new carbon fiber parts include the hood, roof, side sill covers, and trunk and rear spoiler, resulting in a total weight savings of 10.5 kilograms. The biggest contributor comes from a change in materials used in the brake rotors themselves, allowing for a 16.3 kilogram drop in unsprung weight of the car.
Following the theme of kaizen, every component has been improved to reduce weight, increase downforce and enhance aerodynamics.

Thousands of Nissan GT-Rs owners, fans and suppliers gathered ...at Fuji Speedway last month to show off their prized GT-Rs and share their passion with the growing GT-R community.
The one-day event, R’s Meeting, is hosted by a popular local Japanese GT-R Magazine. Visitors had the opportunity to interact with former and current Nissan GT-R engineers that developed the GT-R and witness generations of GT-Rs on parade.
GT-R owners also had the chance to take their car around the Fuji circuit to unleash the power of GT-R. 2019 marks the 50th anniversary since the GT-R was born, making this event one to remember.

The Nissan e.dams team is set to kick off its electric street racing challenge when the ABB FIA Formula E championship begins its fifth season of competition on Dec. 15.
Swiss ...former series' champion Sebastien Buemi and his newly announced British teammate Oliver Rowland will drive on the 2.495-kilometer, 21-turn street circuit in Ad Diriyah, near the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh.
Oliver will be driving car #22.
The cars will hit the track for the first time on Dec. 14 for a shakedown practice run at 2:30pm local time. The compact Formula E race day format on Dec. 15 includes practice, qualifying and the race all held in a single day, with the green flag set to drop at 3:05pm local time.

Nissan has confirmed the production design of the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign – the ultimate expression of the GT-R – and has opened the official order books for the 50-vehicle ...limited run.
Nissan collaborated with Turin, Italy-based Italdesign to create the model, based on the latest Nissan GT-R NISMO, in commemoration of the 50th anniversaries of the GT-R in 2019 and Italdesign in 2018. While the prototype vehicle was finished in a special gray with gold accents, customers will be able to specify their preferred color combinations for the production version. They also will be able to choose interior colors and packages.
In addition to Goodwood, the GT-R50 prototype has made appearances at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion in the U.S. and Nissan Crossing in Tokyo’s Ginza district. It will be on display at the Nissan Gallery in Yokohama from Dec. 7.

The ...unveiling took place at Nissan Crossing in the city's Ginza district. The car, which was developed by Nissan's racing arm, NISMO, with its race technology know-how, will officially debut on Dec. 2 at the annual NISMO Festival at Fuji International Speedway, appearing alongside Nissan's new Formula E electric race car.

In their first-ever collaboration, Nissan and Italdesign ...have created a new prototype car – the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign, which could become the blueprint for a limited run of 50 hand-built production vehicles. The prototype is a celebration of two golden anniversaries: 50 years of the GT-R, in 2019, and 50 years of Italdesign, in 2018.
The car combines the best of two cultures – Japanese performance and Italian craftsmanship. The prototype was built with pride and dedication by Italdesign craftsmen at their workshop in Turin, Italy.
Italdesign is one of the world’s leading carrozzeria, or coachbuilders. It provides a wide range of services dedicated to the development of new vehicles and industrial products, ranging from styling to engineering and from prototype manufacturing to testing and validation.
“Underneath its design, it hides something unique and very special” Federico Ferrero, head of special vehicles at Italdesign, says of the GT-R50. “It’s the knowledge and the hands of skilled men, who’ve been building cars for decades, that brought the concept and its challenging and unique design to reality.”
Based on the latest GT-R NISMO, the Nissan GT-R50 features a pronounced power bulge on the hood, a lowered roofline, and prominent “samurai blade” cooling outlets behind the front wheels. The stretched LED headlights and the floating tail lights evoke the GT-R’s iconic signature.
The GT-R50’s interior features extensive use of two different carbon fiber finishes across the center console, instrument panel and door linings, along with black Alcantara and fine black Italian leather on the seats.
The gold accents used within the interior echo the exterior, giving it an elegant but sporty look, says GT-R50 workshop team leader Stefano D’Araio.

The Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign made ...its first public appearance in Tokyo on September 23, Sunday.
Continuing on its world tour, the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign made its way to the home of the GT-R in Tokyo – for its first reveal at Daikanyama T-site for a “Morning Cruise” event with media, Nissan GT-R enthusiasts and automobile fans.
Nissan also brought from its heritage collection, the 1996 NISMO GT-R LM BCNR33 and the 1972 Skyline 2000GT-R Racing Concept (KPGC110). GT-R owners in Japan also came in full force filling up the parking lots at the event.
The first-ever collaboration between Nissan and Italdesign, the GT-R50 prototype may become the blueprint for an extremely limited run of hand-built production vehicles.
The prototype commemorates the 50th anniversaries of the Nissan GT-R, in 2019, and Italdesign, in 2018.

BEIJING – Zhengzhou Nissan's tough Nissan Navara pickup has won a difficult stage of the 2018 Taklimakan Rally, an extreme motorsports event in China.
Three Navara trucks began the eight-stage rally ...in Urumqi, Xinjiang, in China's far northwest. The trucks followed the old Silk Road for 2,769 km, including the blazing hot and technically challenging Gobi Desert. Of 90 automobiles taking part in Asia's largest annual off-road endurance rally, only 59 could complete the entire challenge.
Zhengzhou Nissan drivers Ho-Ututunasheng and En Wang – competing in the 215-km SS1 stage from Turpan to Shanshan – drove their Navara to victory in the T2.1 category, while Zhengzhou Nissan also clenched four of the eight "Golden Helmet" prizes.
