How many reviews to move your score?

Every dealer principal has asked this and almost nobody gets a straight number back. It is arithmetic. Put your store's numbers in and read the answer.

What actually moves the number

Ask at delivery, not by email on Tuesday

The single highest-yield change in most stores is moving the ask to the moment the customer takes the keys, while somebody they like is standing in front of them. A request sent three days later competes with their whole life.

Service is where the volume is

You deliver a few dozen cars a month. You touch several hundred service customers. Stores that get their rating up almost always did it through the service drive, not the sales floor.

Answer the bad ones properly

You cannot delete a 1-star, but the reply is read by everyone who comes after. A specific, non-defensive reply that names what went wrong does more for the next shopper than the review costs you.

One honest caveat about these numbers

Google shows your rating to one decimal place, so a store displaying 4.2 might really be anywhere from 4.15 to 4.249. The figures above use your displayed rating, which makes them accurate to within a review or two at normal volumes — close enough to plan against, not close enough to argue over. They also assume every new review is a 5. Mix in some 4s and the real number goes up.
